White tooth colored fillings are one of the most common cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry procedure performed at our dental practice here in Antalya. The tooth will have a more natural look and white tooth fillings are considered healthier than the traditional amalgam metal fillings.
The white tooth filling is made of a very durable mixture of plastic and glass, which when being applied, is very pliable giving it the ability to be precisely molded to create the look of a natural tooth.
Once we have drilled the tooth, a bonding agent is applied and the filling is then added and molded to the desired shape. We then cure (harden) it with a special light and the excess material is then removed. We complete the process by giving the filling a final shaping and polishing.
What Is a Fıllıng?
A filling is a procedure in which Dr. Burhan Akyuz cleans out a cavity and fills the remaining hole with a composite resin material to restore the health and structure of your tooth. During your visit we will numb your tooth and the surrounding area. Dr. Akyuz will then carefully clean away the tooth decay within the cavity. Once the cavity is cleaned-out and smoothed, he will fill the hole with composite, or tooth-colored material made out of synthetic resin.
Coming in for a filling is significant in protecting your teeth against more complex problems, which will require more extensive solutions. When we fill a cavity early, we stop the decay from advancing further into your tooth. Left untreated, cavities may eventually result in advanced decay and infection. Cavity fillings are effective procedures that help you avoid the need for a root canal or prosthetics, such as crowns.
What Are the Benefıts of Tooth-Colored Fıllıngs?
You may hear people mention that tooth-colored fillings are not as strong as metal fillings. This is an old myth based on the early days of composite, when it was not composed of the durable resins we use today.
